Victory Monday- NFL Recap 12/11

J E T S JETS JETS JETS! What a dominant win for the New York Jets over the Houston Texans yesterday. After the first half, in the pouring rain, that every possession ended in a punt, the Jets had their most impressive second half in as long as I can remember. Zach Wilson had his best game in his professional career throwing for 300 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. I do not know if Hackett changed the playbook or Zach said screw it and played his game but he finally looked loose out there and balled out. If you read my previous post regarding this game, everything I asked for came to life, scoring 3 offensive touchdowns, letting Zach out the pocket, and winning the game. I am also pumped that my boy Jeremy Ruckert continues to play more and get more involved in the offense. The Defense was as dominate as usual and only allowed 135 total yards in the game. The Jets D is so fun to watch and the defensive line might be the best unit in all of football. The Jets must sign Bryce Huff in the offseason as that guy is allergic to not making big plays. For the “fans” that wanted to lose out, the “Win Cam” video of the players after the game shows that a win goes a lot further for a franchise, with a really hopeful future, than losses. The entire team was fired up to win and so was I. We probably blew our playoff chances with Tim Boyle wasting two weeks as the starter but if the Jets can shock Miami, anything is possible.

The rest of the day in the NFL was very interesting to me. The game that is getting the most talked about is obviously the Bills-Chiefs. The game did not have the same feel as previous years as both of these teams have been underwhelming this year. Kadrius Toney lined up offsides and it negated the go ahead touchdown with a minute left. Patrick Mahomes had a temper tantrum on the side, which reminded me of Lebron James against Boston last year. However, this was not controversial at all and was a blatant call for the officials. I think the NFL has a serious referee problem and has cost teams wins this year but Mahomes dying on this hill that the refs should not of called that because it took away from Travis Kelce’s career was a weird one considering how many games the Chiefs have won on controversial calls like the Super Bowl or against the Jets this year.

It’s week 14 of the NFL season and I still cannot tell the good teams. In my opinion, there are currently four good teams in the NFL with the 49ers, Ravens, Cowboys, and Dolphins. The rest of the league has not consistently played good over a long period of times and can lose on any given Sunday. A lot of teams have been fraud checked over the past few weeks like the Chiefs, Lions, and Jaguars. Regarding the “good teams” I think the MVP of the league should come from one of those teams. My current order of MVP rankings go as follow: 1. Dak Prescott 2. Tyreek Hill 3. Christian McCaffery 4. Lamar Jackson. I think it would be crazy for Brock Purdy to win an MVP and he should not be considered given the way the 9ers score and the skill players that make the magic like CMC, Deebo, and Aiyuk. Before last nights game, I thought Tyreek should be the MVP as he is the most valuable player to his team. The fact that Tyreek and CMC are not even being considered for MVP shows that it is strictly a Quarterback award now. Dak has been playing out of his mind and the Cowboys pounced the Eagles last night and it really looks like it can be their year this year. I never understood the Dak hate either as he seems like one of the nicest guys in the league, and is an Underdog story.

The NFL for some reason put 2 Monday Night Football games on tonight, both of which are not very enticing to watch. However, I will be watching both games for my fantasy matchup. It’s a win-and-in situation for my squad and all I need is Jordan Love to not get outscored by 28 points to Tyreek Hill, Derrick Henry, and the Packers Defense. Typing it out, it seems near impossible for that to happen even though Sleeper is giving me a 50-50 shot to win. I would so much rather watch the 14 NBA games on today, but that will have be resorted to my laptop. Football has not hit the same this year and I’m not sure if it is because there are 18 backup QBs starting or the excitement I had coming into this season quickly evaporated four plays into the Jets season but the NFL is still King and the only thing that can really get me to not watch or care about a game at all is put the Patriots and Steelers on primetime.
